Chorionic gonadotropin - a hormonal drug; gonadotropic and luteinizing agent.
In women, it induces ovulation, increases the activity of the corpus luteum, enhances the production of progesterone, promotes egg implantation and supports the development of the placenta.
In men, it stimulates the function of testicular cells, enhances testosterone synthesis, promotes spermatogenesis.
Indications for use:
Chorionic gonadotropin is used for the hypofunction of the sex glands in hypothalamic-pituitary disorders and infertility of the pituitary-ovarian genesis.
In boys and men:
- Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (in combination with human menopausal gonadotropin preparations - menotropins, CMP);
delayed puberty, hypogenitalism, testicular hypoplasia, adiposogenital syndrome, hypophysial dwarfism with symptoms of sexual infantilism,
- Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism with signs of eunuchoidism;
- Cryptorchidism in children (ectopia, testicular retention in the abdominal cavity or inguinal canal);
impaired spermatogenesis: oligo-, asthenospermia, azoospermia;
- For diagnostic purposes: differential diagnostic test for anorchism and cryptorchidism in boys; to assess testicular function in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism before starting a long-term stimulant treatment (Leydig functional test).
Dosage and administration:
Chorionic gonadotropin is prescribed as intramuscular (less commonly subcutaneous) injections in doses of 500-10000 IU per day. Solution for injection should be prepared immediately before use with the attached solvent. The preparation solution should be used immediately after preparation.
Dosage regimen is individual, depending on indications and treatment regimen.
